About the event

THEME OF THIS EVENING: SEE YOURSELF IN OTHERS

As children we learned that certain qualities in us were not welcomed and worthy of love. ⁣⁣

We learned to push down those qualities when we noticed that our caregivers reacted to them with anger, rejection or shame - they became our shadow.

As adults we might then judge the qualities in others that we don’t allow in ourself - we project our shadow on other people. ⁣

We might also be attracted by others that embody a quality that we don’t allow in ourself - we want to experience that quality through other people.

Often our projections are relating with each other, not our authentic selves - they come between us and are in the way of us authentically connecting.

The first step to connect to others as our authentic self, is to bring awareness to these projections: noticing when they arise and being with them, so that we can meet beyond them. ⁣

Through this process we can integrate these lost parts within ourselves that we only see in others, learn to love them and become more whole. ⁣

This is what we will be exploring together this evening.

--> this event is followed by an afternoon with one of our favourite embodiment practices Primal Play, that you are welcome to attend if you want a full day of authentic connection & play. There is a 1,5h lunch break in between.

ABOUT THE CONNECTION CIRCLES

Deep down we all long to feel connected: being met, seen & heard by one another beyond what separates us.

Yet somehow we all struggle with it, in our awkward and sweet humaneness.

The circles rotate between a set of themes that you can attend in whatever order you like and without having attended a circle before.

Come curious to discover different ways to meet beyond what separates us, through embodiment exercises, mindful observation, sharing and reflection.

We will use techniques and tools inspired by circling, mindfulness, authentic relating, embodied intimacy, somatic experiencing, trauma theory and yoga. All with the intention of connecting you with yourself and your body before you connect with others.

All human beings are welcome.

Every exercise is optional and you can bring a partner/friend to couple with if that makes you feel more at ease.

The event will be held in English.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING:

“Through these workshops I discovered a new way of being. I was re-introduced to feeling my body and using it as an additional tool to make more informed choices about where I really want my life to go, moment to moment. The exercises are also perfectly used outside the workshop to come closer to people in my life.” / Sotiris

”Beyond the awkwardness the whole universe opened up in the eyes right in front of me”. / Sandra, participant“

"Thank you for a beautifully held connection circle yesterday. It felt huge to be a part of and witness the authentic connections that took place under your holding of the space.I feel richer as a result from what I got to experience and I’m looking forward to the next circle”. / Mats, participant

FACILITATOR

IDA HELMERS

My biggest passion is to create safe spaces where we can open our hearts & show up as our authentic selves, through that we heal what separates us.

I hold space with integrity and an open heart, allowing myself to also show up with what is and not put on a mask that creates a wall between us.

Often I call myself a relational nerd, because I see relationships as a path of personal growth and mutual healing. This is the path I want to invite you into through these workshops: a path where we can walk each other back home.

I have spent a lot of time participating, training & assisting in the Embodied Intimacy community will start a Somatic Experiencing training this spring. I have a background as a Mindfulness instructor, health coach and massagetherapist as well as healing and energy work.

The last couple of years I found a passion for relational healing and somatic awareness on my own healing journey and have since then dived into teachings around trauma theory, somatic resourcing & developmental psycholgy.

GUEST FACILITATOR (that is sometimes too busy making the most delicious vegan organic ice cream in the world to facilitate)

GUNTHER NANN

Gunther is very passionate about relating. After struggling with connecting to himself, and thus to others for long periods of his life, he discovered the value of embodiment practices to re-connect with his desires, fears and boundaries. Since he is feeling himself again relating went from being scary to being exciting.

When relating to others he is very curious, not only about the other person, but also about the field that is created when two or more people come together. Following his curiosity often leads him to amazing experiences in the moment, that he could have never planned for. Besides his curiosity he brings presence, trauma-awareness and an acceptance of whatever is, which gives other people permission to be themselves.

Gunther has also spent a lot of time participating, assisting and training in the Embodied Intimacy community. He has completed a SAS circling leadership training, a yoga teacher training and an insane amount of workshops in the field of trauma healing, authentic relating & tantra.
